Visiting Hours: 

Saturday to Thursday: 09:00 – 18:00 

Friday: The mosque is only open for worship. 

Please note that the mosque will be closed to visitors 15 minutes before prayer times and will remain closed during the prayer. 

 

Admission: 

For Turkish Citizens and Worshippers: Free entry during prayer times. 

For Foreign Visitors: €20 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth located at the mosque entrance. 

The history of Kariye Mosque, along with information about its mosaics and frescoes, is available in nine languages through a specially designed mobile app. 

Please remember that you are entering an area of significant religious and architectural importance. The primary purpose of this building is to serve as a mosque. Therefore, during your visit, you must respect Muslim worship practices. By entering the mosque, you agree to abide by Turkish law and accept any legal consequences for any damage you may cause. 

 

Visitor Rules: 

Tickets: The ticket purchased by non-Turkish citizens is valid only for Kariye Mosque. Please keep your ticket with you during your visit and present it to officials when requested. 

Ticket Validity: Tickets are valid only for the date of purchase and are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. 

Responsibility: By using the ticket to enter Kariye Mosque, you acknowledge that you are entering a religious and architectural site of great historical value. You agree not to cause any physical or spiritual damage and accept full responsibility for any damage caused. 

One-Person Entry: The ticket allows entry for one person and is valid for a single visit only. 

Personal Belongings: You are responsible for your personal belongings during your visit. 

Follow Instructions: Please follow the directions of the staff throughout your visit. 

Dress Code: Adherence to the mosque’s dress code is mandatory to enter. Headscarves and full coverings can be purchased at the ticket booth if needed. 

Mobile Phones: Please set your mobile phone to silent and only use it in designated areas for informational purposes. 

Photography and Videography: No commercial or news photography or videography is permitted without prior written permission from the relevant authorities. Personal photography and short video recordings are allowed, but flash photography is strictly prohibited. 

Food and Drink: No food or beverages are allowed inside the mosque, and visitors may not bring any food or drink into the area. 

Capacity Limits: Security personnel may limit the number of visitors allowed inside the mosque and its surroundings. 

Restricted Access: Visitor hours may be restricted or completely halted in line with the mosque’s prayer schedule. 

Behavioral Standards: The right is reserved to deny entry or service to visitors displaying aggressive, provocative behavior, or those who are not in full control of their faculties. 

Children: Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a guardian. The guardian is responsible for ensuring that the child follows the mosque’s rules.
